Lithium takes about a month to three months to get to the levels in our blood where it actually works against the disease. Then another month to two months before the effects on our behaviours can be seen. It&#039;s really important in the beginning to have your blood tested. The Lithium level has to be within a specific range, so the blood tests let the doctor know to up or lower the prescription.

I&#039;ve always felt knowledge is power when it comes to manic depression, so this is something I put together on Lithium:
